Small Batch Craft Roasted Coffee

The Story

District #124 Coffee was founded in 2024 in a small town at the edge of the beautiful Nebraska Sandhills. Lori, the founder, is a lifelong learner and retired public school educator. During her 39-year career in education, she was blessed with many brilliant students and amazing co-workers. However, it was time to try something different. A year into enjoying retirement, she felt she needed to find a new aspiration! After a few long, semi-philosophical conversations with her good friends over a glass (OK, bottle!) of wine, she decided to attend coffee school in Auburn, WA. She fell in love with the art of coffee roasting! This adventure now serves as an enjoyable pastime for her and an unexpected reply to the "What do you do all day now that you are retired?" question! The company name pays homage to the one-room country school where the owner, her brothers, and their father attended Kindergarten through 8th grade. Her small craft roasting house is in a shipping container she converted just for that purpose. It sits on a hill with an amazing view of the Nebraska prairie and sunsets she loves! Lori hopes that while you enjoy the unique smooth taste of District #124 Coffee, you might fondly remember a former classmate, teacher, school administrator, or other school employee.

As Aristotle said, "The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you."
